      I heard that foods that were once thought to be “bad” for you, like eggs, are now being touted as healthy and promoting weight loss. What is your take on this?

      Great question Paula. Eggs are the source of some of the highest quality protein available, but many don’t know that the yolk is the part that contains most of the vital nutrients. The advice to eat egg whites stems from an outdated understanding of nutrition, that the yolk contains cholesterol, therefore it should be avoided. The truth: eating eg gyolks does NOT raise your cholesterol. The yolk contains calcium, zinc. folate, B6, B12, iron, Vitamins A, D, E, and K. All of the essentially fatty acids are also in the yolk. These nutrients are almost completely absent in egg whites.

      Surprisingly, research shows that whole eggs promote weight loss because they are relatively low in calories, have a low glycemic index, and promote a sense of fullness after being consumed.

      So go ahead and eat those eggs, yolk and all. Just make sure to buy organic, free-range eggs to get the best nutrient concentration, the proper ratio of fats, and and to avoid any dangerous chemicals.
